Guest Artists Live 018

Omar Antonio San Francisco

San Francisco native Omar Antonio has always been a creative mind. From a young age he has always excelled at drawing, sewing, sketching, painting, dancing, and having his own unique “style”. It is not hard to see how Omar incorporates all of those talents into the artistry of hair design.

Omar graduated from Miss Marty’s School of cosmetology in San Francisco, CA and from there has never looked back. Being a young parent he began immediately working in a salon and started taking all the educational classes he could.

Then in 2004 he was noticed by Sebastian Professional and become a member of the core artistic team in 2008 and his career hasn’t stopped yet. His work has graced the pages of many magazines including Culture, Modern Salon, Launchpad, American Salon, Elle, Tribute and Dreamscape.

He continues to educate and inspire hair artist all over the world, with such tours as Black Ops, High Definition Tour Canada, Robert Lobetta’s House of Sin, Future Vision, and Inspire. Being able to help inspire fellow artists is Omar’s passion as well as his love for AvantGuarde and editorial hair styling.

Omar Antonio continues to set goals for himself and for his career and can now add submitting his work into his first competition with NAHA this year and becoming the newest member of the Sebastian International Artistic team to his list of accomplishments.

His face may not be well known, but this architect of beauty has been responsible for the image of famous personalities. With more than 15 years in the beauty industry, working in prestigious salons in Puerto Rico, he has traveled to places like Australia, Holland, Argentina and New York (amongst others) as hairdresser to some famous artists.

His hard work, his desire to stay up to date with the trends in the industry and his passion for cut and color have earned him recognition in his native Puerto Rico as well as internationally. He has recently worked at New York Fashion Week, Miami Fashion Week and VOGUE USA Magazine Fashion Editorial.

For more than 10 years JT has been working with TIGI, one of the most prestigious and trend setting companies in the industry, both for their beauty products as well as for their education programs. Now JT is the PR Caribbean & Central America TIGI Talent Art Director. His role within the company takes him all over the Caribbean, South America and the United States giving educational seminars and presenting his work on the stages of industry conventions. Being part of the team allows him to follow two of his greatest passions: being continuously educated on the latest trends from around the globe and sharing his knowledge with fellow hairdressers and stylists.

In spite of all his success, he is still very clear on his goals: “I hope to continue to present my work in cities not yet visited, and representing Puerto Rico with pride. I also want to continue my education in places like London, Spain and Canada.”

Also JT has found a new passion for making videos and photography where he can express all his creativity documenting all his work and travel experiences. Take a closer look at JT and follow his adventures at: facebook, twitter, blogger, youtube and vimeo.
